Our Team

James Brandon Murphy – Chief Executive Officer/Principal 770-448-2525, Extension 1

    Mr. Murphy has over 30 years of professional experience as a Certified Public Accountant. He specializes in producing Partnership and Corporate Tax Returns, Tax Planning, Trusts, Compliance, Small Business Consulting and Audits/Reviews. Mr. Murphy was the Tax Manager at Verner, Bromberg & Cohen in Dunwoody, Georgia. In this capacity, he handled the high net worth client relationships and produced their tax returns and any other financial information they may have required. He reviewed staff member’s tax returns, audits, and financial statements for accuracy. Prior to Verner, Bromberg & Cohen, Mr. Murphy was Principal of James B. Murphy, CPA PC, in Plattsburgh, New York. He catered to tax needs of small businesses as well as performing numerous non-for-profit and New York State school audits. Mr. Murphy holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from State University of New York at Plattsburgh, is a member of AICPA and the Georgia State Society of CPA’s.

Joan M. Murphy – Vice President – Client Relations 770-448-2525, Extension 3

    Mrs. Murphy has over 25 years of professional business experience. Prior to Simmons & Jamieson, she was employed with Wells Real Estate Funds in the Broker/Dealer Relations Department. Her responsibilities included retaining selling agreements with the Key Account Broker/Dealers and educating and providing information to the financial advisors regarding the Wells REIT (Real Estate Investment Trust) products. Mrs. Murphy was employed in Boston for 8 years at Millipore Corporation, a Fortune 500 company, supporting the General Counsel and Chief Financial Officer. She was a member of the Malcom Baldrige Committee as well as the ISO 9000 Committee. Mrs. Murphy is a graduate of Katharine Gibbs Business School in Boston, Massachusetts.

Nicole Lee, Certified Public Accountant 770-448-2525, Extension 2

Nicole has over 15 years of experience working in both public accounting and private industry. Nicole’s expertise includes tax compliance, tax accounting and tax consulting for large and middle–market closely held companies, partnerships, their owners and other high net worth individuals. Prior to joining Simmons and Jamieson, Nicole was a part time Director of Finance at local consulting firm. Her experience also includes 12 years at a "Big Four" firm where she was a senior tax manager providing all tax services (US, state, local and international) to her clients. Nicole graduated summa cum laude from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona with a BA in Accounting. She also has a Master of Business Taxation from University of Southern California. Nicole lives in Duluth with her husband and two sons. She enjoys traveling, movies, playing cards, and watching her children play sports.

Cindy has over 15 years of experience working in private accounting. She began her career in accounting for a government contractor with the EPA before moving into construction accounting for small and mid-sized firms in Virginia and Pennsylvania. Cindy moved to Atlanta in 1995 and worked for Weeks Realty as a job cost accountant. She earned her bookkeeping certification from the American Institute of Professional Bookkeepers.
